Chapter 152: Guiding Elowen & Sylvaine to Magic Tier 6
Chapter 152: Guiding Elowen & Sylvaine to Magic Tier 6
A New Challenge
The cool morning air lingered in the Assassin’s Guild as Seraphis stood before Elowen and Sylvaine, arms crossed, a knowing smirk on her face. The previous night, she had ascended to Tier 6, and the sheer power still thrummed within her veins like a roaring tempest.
But she wasn’t stopping there.
Magic wasn’t just an individual pursuit—it was a path to power that would benefit their entire group.
Elowen and Sylvaine were already exceptional fighters—but to truly stand at her side, they needed to ascend as well.
Seraphis turned to them.
"It’s time for both of you to reach Tier 6."
Understanding the Process
Both women exchanged glances. Tier 6 was no small feat—it required more than just training; it needed precise ingredients, an advanced ritual circle, and the sheer willpower to endure the transformation.
Seraphis had experienced it herself—the pain, the raw energy tearing through her body, the world warping around her.
"We’ll do whatever it takes," Elowen said, determination flickering in her sharp eyes.
"Then let’s get started," Seraphis said.
The process had three main steps:
-
Gathering the Required Ingredients – They needed Essence Stones, a Catalyst unique to their affinities, and a stabilizing elixir.
-
Preparing the Ritual Chamber – The environment had to be perfectly controlled, or the energy could kill them.
-
The Ascension Ritual – The final, most dangerous step, where they would break their limits and step into Tier 6.
Seraphis took a deep breath. This was going to take everything they had.
Hunting for Essence Stones
The first and most difficult ingredient to obtain was the Essence Stones—they weren’t just rare, they were extremely dangerous to extract.
Seraphis led Elowen and Sylvaine out of the guild at midnight, into the wilds where mana converged in dangerous storms.
These places were known as Mana Veins—where raw magic pooled in nature.
They arrived at the Shadowfang Gorge, a deep, cavernous trench where black mist curled through the trees. Strange, floating shards of energy flickered in the distance, embedded in the jagged rock formations.
"Those are Essence Stones," Seraphis pointed.
But there was a problem.
A massive Mana Wraith—a spectral guardian formed from pure energy—hovered near the stones. Its body flickered in and out of existence, its glowing eyes locked on them as if sensing their intent.
Seraphis grinned.
"We’re taking them anyway."
Fighting the Mana Wraith
The moment they stepped closer, the wraith screeched, the air shuddering under its unearthly cry.
It moved fast, lunging at Sylvaine with tendrils of raw magic.
She sidestepped, flipping over a jagged boulder before launching a counterattack. Her daggers glowed with dark energy, slicing through the air with precise arcs.
But the wraith wasn’t physical—her blades passed right through it.
"We need enchanted weapons!" Elowen called, already channeling wind magic into her spear.
Seraphis didn’t waste time. She activated her Tier 6 aura, drawing in the surrounding magic, and infused her hands with ethereal force.
Then, she punched the wraith.
The impact sent a shockwave through the cavern, shattering nearby stones and sending cracks of magic rippling across the air. The wraith reeled back, stunned, giving Elowen and Sylvaine the opening they needed.
Sylvaine leapt, her daggers now glowing with runic inscriptions, and slashed through the wraith’s core.
Elowen followed up, thrusting her spear straight through the creature, twisting the weapon as raw wind magic erupted in a slicing storm.
The wraith let out one final shriek before dissolving into pure mana.
"That was intense," Sylvaine exhaled.
Seraphis smirked. "And that was just step one."
They quickly gathered the Essence Stones, their surfaces still pulsing with lingering energy.
Obtaining the Catalysts
The next step was finding personalized Catalysts—the key ingredients that would help stabilize their magic.
Each Catalyst had to match their individual affinities:
-
Elowen, the Windborn – Needed a Stormheart Crystal, a rare gemstone formed in lightning storms.
-
Sylvaine, the Shadow Dancer – Needed a Void Orchid, a flower that only bloomed in pure darkness.
Seraphis split the team—she would retrieve the Stormheart Crystal with Elowen, while Sylvaine would venture into the Black Hollow to locate the Void Orchid.
Elowen’s Trial: The Stormheart Crystal
Seraphis and Elowen ventured into The Howling Cliffs, where constant lightning storms crackled against the jagged peaks.
The Stormheart Crystal only appeared during the height of a thunderstorm, formed by concentrated lightning magic.
As they reached the summit, black clouds gathered overhead.
Lightning split the sky.
"There!" Seraphis pointed—embedded within the highest peak was a glowing blue gemstone, crackling with energy.
But before they could reach it, storm spirits emerged from the clouds—ghostly entities born from the storm itself.
Elowen didn’t hesitate.
She called the wind, her spear swirling with gale-force energy, and clashed with the spirits midair.
Seraphis took to the skies as well, her agility enhanced by her newfound power. They fought in the midst of the storm, dodging lightning strikes and tearing through the spectral enemies until Elowen finally reached the crystal.
She ripped it from the rock, absorbing the storm’s fury into her body.
Her affinity resonated with the crystal—it was hers now.
Sylvaine’s Trial: The Void Orchid
Meanwhile, Sylvaine navigated The Black Hollow, an underground labyrinth where all light ceased to exist.
Here, creatures of pure shadow lurked, preying on anything that dared enter.
The Void Orchid only bloomed in the absolute absence of light—and only for those who could navigate the darkness without fear.
Sylvaine moved without hesitation, her movements precise as she relied on sound, vibrations, and instinct.
She heard them before she saw them.
Shadow Beasts, slithering along the cave walls, whispering in voices that weren’t their own.
She smirked. "Come try me."
The battle was silent, deadly—Sylvaine moving like a ghost, her daggers flashing as she outmaneuvered the creatures, striking from the darkness itself.
After what felt like an eternity, she found it—the Void Orchid, glowing faintly in the abyss.
She plucked it carefully, feeling its energy sink into her soul.
She had passed the test.
The Final Ascension
Back in the training hall, the three women prepared the ritual circles, placing their Essence Stones and Catalysts in place.
Seraphis guided them through the process, ensuring everything was precise.
Then, the ritual began.
The air shook as magic surged through the room.
Elowen and Sylvaine screamed, their bodies wracked with pain as the transformation overtook them. The power threatened to tear them apart, but they held on.
Minutes passed.
Then—
An explosion of energy.
When the dust settled, both women stood, their auras changed forever.
They had ascended.
Now, they were Tier 6.
