Chapter 437: Departed Loved Ones
Chapter 437: Departed Loved Ones
In the quiet silence of the meditation room, a tender scene unfolded in the realm of dreams. A realm where the veil between the living and the departed became thin.
The boundaries of time and space melt away like mist upon the morning breeze.
As the dreamer drifted into slumber, a soft glow suffused the air. Shadows danced and flickered upon the walls of mist, shimmering and shifting with every passing moment.
Amidst the quiet stillness, a whisper of melodious murmur echoed from the unknown depths.
Dylan opened his eyes, feeling he was already in his spiritual domain. His heart demon came to disturb his enlightenment state.
He remained calm as those familiar voices echoed around him, but the situation this time felt different. Nobody came to disturb him when he tried to attain more understanding of magics and laws.
As the thoughts crossed by, they magically appeared in the distance. A shimmering apparition, radiant and luminous, their form bathed in the soft glow of the dream.
It was the departed loved ones. They came to bid their farewell and offered their blessings to the ones they left behind in the world of the living.
Dylan’s lips trembled, but he felt it was still his heart demon, trying to disturb him. However, his little heart said otherwise. The situation this time was different.
If it was his heart demon, that thing would always use any means to plunge him into the abyss of no return, especially by exploiting his guilt and regret. That thing would usually take the form of his late wife and daughter who were long dead.
However, his late wife and daughter were there, just waving their hands with a gentle smile without demanding anything.
They said something, but he couldn’t hear them clearly. He could only read the movements of their lips and translated what they wanted to convey.
At that very moment, he widened his eyes. They conveyed their farewell and blessings on his new family, reassuring him that they had found peace and relief.
With tears of joy and sorrow in his eyes, he considered nothing more and dashed to embrace them. A tender, bittersweet reunion that transcended the boundaries of mortality. Words of love and wisdom flowed freely, spoken in hushed tones.
"Yes!, Yes, that’s right. You’re safe now! You’re..." Dylan embraced his loved ones tightly, but they only smiled at him in their increasingly transparent form.
"No, no. Stay with me!"
"Don’t leave me!"
Dylan shouted loudly, but his loved ones departed for real, leaving nothing but a gentle breeze of the past memories.
He thought that he had accepted the bitter reality years ago. He lost his wife during that tragedy, and his daughter was missing in action during the outer space war against the Ruvoid God as a member of the divine group.
The two people he loved the most left his side forever. It almost made him lose his mind, falling into madness as an evil tyrant devil who would destroy everything.
However, his confidant was pregnant, making it the last thin string of sanity that kept him back to his senses as the Half-God Devil Emperor.
Several months later, she gave birth to a healthy son. Despite the joy, it still couldn’t wash away the old sorrow.
"..." Dylan slumped down. Tears that had been dry for a long time somehow flowed profusely, wetting his cheeks.
It was not his heart demon because if it was an illusion, that thing should have appeared to mock or trick him. It was truly his departed loved ones. They came to meet him for the last time in his enlightenment state.
*Zap*
Dylan was thrown out of his spiritual domain, and back into his body. He subconsciously touched his cheeks as he knew that his tears had not yet dried.
After regaining his composure, Dylan wiped his tears and straightened his back, feeling the regret and guilt in his heart alleviated a little.
"Elysia... you broke your promise." Dylan muttered softly, but he could only sigh.
Even though Elysia saved the world from the Ruvoid, she failed to bring his daughter back. He entrusted his daughter to her, but she betrayed his trust!
He took a deep breath stood up, put on his combat suit, and came out of his meditation chamber.
The world was currently under threat from the Polluted Sea God, but it wasn’t a desperate situation like the Ruvoid’s terror. It wasn’t because no one could deal with the Polluted Sea God and her minions, but it was because the higher-ups from all big factions chose not to eradicate the Polluted Sea God altogether, though they could do it.
It was a secret unknown to anyone other than the highest leaders of each faction worldwide.
However, regardless of the benefits, the threat of the Polluted Sea God still couldn’t be underestimated.
"Dear, you have finally come out of your seclusion. Do you need anything? Would you like to eat, shower, or perhaps, me?" Sophia, the fire crow Demon King, and also Devil Emperor Dylan’s wife, greeted her husband with affection.
"Everything is good. I reckon the Sea God clones didn’t create more chaos than expected. What does Zach do now?" Dylan raised his hand.
"Our baby is being personally trained by General Bruno at the training ground. We can watch him train if we go there now." Sophia checked her wristwatch.
"Good. I will personally train him before I shall take my leave for the extermination mission."
"Extermination mission?"
"Yeah. I want to reclaim the original Wales City from those water demons. It’s been a year since they took over the entire city and its surroundings. The harvest time is here."
"I will notify the Extermination Squad."
"We’ll leave in three hours. Tell them to get ready."
"Yes, my lord! Wait for me on the training ground. I will cheer our baby while you train him!"
Sophia hurried away and waved her hand as she had to carry out her husband’s order as soon as possible.
"..." Dylan nodded in reply, feeling somewhat amused. As the mother of his child, Sophia was also his confidante, one of the Demon Kings under his sovereignty.
A few seconds later, Dylan arrived at the training ground, but his attention was not attracted to his son on the training field when he arrived there.
His gaze was drawn to a particular spectator area around the training ground. Under a shady umbrella, two silver-haired beautiful demonesses sat next to each other to watch the boy training with a wooden sword.
"..." Dylan was silent as he could recognize those people. It was his late wife and daughter!
He rubbed his eyes for fear of seeing things wrongly, but they were still there. It might be his hallucination or their spirit wanting to stay a little longer to watch the Transcendent Family’s successor.
Therefore, he took off his war helmet and bowed slightly, showing his respect to the departed.
After that, he went to the training field to replace General Bruno to train his son.
---
Elysia was currently dressed as Devil Princess, similar to Sylvia’s appearance five years ago. It was still her but with a dark princess dress, silver hair, devil horns, and demonic red eyes.
As for Sylvia, she changed her eye color to bluish. Her appearance already resembled her late mother, the demonic dragon, Aquillia Eudoxia.
"Why did he pay his respect to us, instead of coming to greet us?" Sylvia mumbled in wonder.
"I have sent the dream message. He cried a few minutes ago." Elysia replied in a whisper.
"I see~ Wonderful! He’s actually a crybaby. Thanks, Ely." Sylvia dropped her fist onto her open palm.
Based on Sylvia’s idea, Elysia used her magical power to slightly disturb Dylan’s meditation to convey the message regarding their arrival. This was done to draw his attention to a first meeting after they had been missing for five years.
"This technique is much better and more effective. Why don’t you use dreams to convey your message to me, Ellie?" Erina asked in wonder.
"I’m sorry. That didn’t cross my mind at the time." Elysia felt a little down.
She could blame the primordial vibrant water because it made her mind a bit messy, but she knew her origin on Earth as a socially awkward person. Her human relations ability wasn’t that great, but she continued to push herself, at least until Elena came to her aid.
"Ahem, I’m not blaming you or anything." Erina cleared her throat.
"Hmm~" Sylvia hummed melodiously while watching her baby brother being trained by her father. It might be a little cruel for a three-year-old boy to receive that kind of hell-level physical exercise, but it was all for his good.
She experienced a similar hardship in her adolescence, and because of that, she wouldn’t help her brother. However, she already prepared a gift to cheer him up later.
’No, wait. Should I play a little drama? Heheh~’ Sylvia chuckled in her mind because a fun little prank came to mind.
She wasn’t there to demand anything because she expected her father to remarry sooner or later. But, considering her suffering under her father’s protection, she couldn’t help but think of repaying her father with mischief.
A few minutes later, Dylan finished training his son. He looked up to a particular spectator area. In that instant, his face paled because it was probably no longer an illusion or a spirit manifestation that only he could see. His late wife and daughter were still there!
Seeing that, Sylvia upturned her lips into a smirk, but she changed her expression to a tender yet melancholy smile.
