Chapter 542: The Last Module
Chapter 542: The Last Module
The field trip led Elysia and her family members to deeper secret realms, the places of awe-inspiring wonder. A grove where trees bore fruits of pure light, a hidden cave filled with crystals that sang melodies, and ancient ruins where the whispers of forgotten Gods could be heard.
However, the realm’s beauty was matched by its dangers. They had to navigate treacherous paths where one misstep could lead to an abyss of no return. They encountered fierce guardians protecting sacred treasures, ancient traps set by long-lost civilizations, and illusions designed to test their resolve and wisdom. Their divine powers were constantly put to the test as they overcame each challenge, growing stronger and more experienced with every trial.
Despite the various obstacles and perils, they found joy in their journey. They bonded over shared experiences, celebrated their triumphs, and comforted each other in moments of difficulty.
"Finally..." Fortuna held the last requirement to create her private world with sparkling eyes. She held the module with both hands, treating it with extra care.
After going through many obstacles, dangerous paths, illusion traps, and a maze of puzzles, she finally managed to obtain it. Of course, this couldn’t be separated from Elysia and everyone’s help.
"My, my~ I wonder whether our Fate Goddess will craft the world inside a divine core using Vrelenia’s method or the artificial world with the world core in it using Quadtria’s method." Elysia clapped her hands, also feeling happy about Fortuna’s happiness.
"The world inside a core or the core inside the world... I think the former is safer than the latter. With Vrelenia’s method, we hold absolute authority and security over our private world. Note, we must not lose or destroy the core." Elena tried to compare the two. Although both methods had their own pros and cons, Vrelenia’s method was more secure.
"Mm, I think so too. With Quadtria’s method, it’s just a secret realm with a key to the other space and dimension. That’s so risky." Fortuna nodded in agreement. She secured the module in her storage space and then went closer to Lifa.
"Then, we can craft your dream world right away once we return to the Sacred Mountain." Lifa replied with a nod.
"Thank you." Fortuna truly appreciated it.
"Then, our primary purpose here is over. Let’s venture to hunt the treasure in the other realms." Nell waved her hands high.
"Hm?" Xentia pulled out a deformed power sphere from the crystallized pillar. This place was akin to a labyrinth within an ancient ruin, but if her guess was correct, this place was once a mothership-class spaceship.
It wouldn’t be surprising to find many relics of the Gods and Immortals from the past, considering that the Heliocentric Dungeon became the realm where the myriad of ownerless secret realms in the Divine World were gathered.
"Xen, it’s time for us to return. What did you get? A stone ball?" Lyla tilted her head in wonder. Xentia collected a stone ball, but she was soon shocked when Xentia cracked it open.
"This is an expired power sphere. One of the power sources is to supply this facility with energy. The ancient technology, but ours is still more advanced and sophisticated. Let’s return." Xentia responded with a flat expression. She and Lyla then warped to Elysia’s side with instant teleportation.
"Everyone has gathered?" Elysia checked her family members once again.
On their visit to this underground facility, everyone roamed freely to observe, loot, or even study the ancient civilization before the 2nd cataclysm.
Some girls roamed quite far into the depths and some others just wandered near the core chamber as they didn’t wish to venture too far from the main group.
"Wait, where are you, Vann?" Dory looked around but she couldn’t find Vanessa everywhere.
"Hm? Didn’t Vanessa go with you, Lynn?" Luna looked around once more, but she didn’t feel Vanessa’s aura within a two-kilometer radius.
"No, mom. I went with Dory because Vann suddenly said she would be back..." Lynn shook her head, but she soon realized the crux of the matter. "Wait, so she said it was for us to wait for her, not because she wanted to return to the core chamber?"
"Then, that’s bad! We were there for half an hour, but Vann didn’t come back to our team." Dory held her head, feeling worried.
"I can sense her faintly, but I can’t pinpoint her location accurately. I shall pick up Vann. Wait for me here." Elysia tried to reach Vanessa via her private channel, but Vanessa was unresponsive. The signal was disturbed, and most likely, Vanessa entered the forbidden zone.
"I’ll go with you. Please wait for us, everyone. It won’t be long." Elena volunteered, and Rhea already stood by Elysia’s side.
*Poof*
Elysia took Elena and Rhea to pick up Vanessa. They teleported to the location where Vanessa’s signal was disrupted.
"The path ahead of us is the entrance to the forbidden zone." Rhea touched the faint barrier in the air.
"We are one kilometer to the surface. This area is relatively safer compared to what we encountered in the underground’s depths." Elena shuddered a little as she tried to recall it. Those ghost hounds and specters were still disturbing her mind.
"..." Elysia just nodded and stepped forward, entering the layer that separated the space in isolation.
---
"Stop right there, you thieving cat!"
"Leave the pearl and fruit you stole behind, and we will consider leaving your corpse intact!"
"Goddammit! Once I capture you, I’ll roast you alive and eat your flesh!"
Many people shouted out loud with great killing intent as they continued to chase the lightning-speed white cat with all their might.
"You don’t plant or cultivate them. So, how are they yours? I got them first, so they are mine! Catch me if you can, losers, wleh~" Vanessa stuck out her tongue while running away, maneuvering occasionally to avoid the long-range attacks.
She only grabbed a luminous pearl and eye-catching fruit while those random people were busy fighting each other, but someone hatefully spotted her. Therefore, those people called a truce and worked together to hunt her down.
It had been more than half an hour since she parted ways with Lynn and Dory, but she felt they still didn’t know that she was being hunted by many rogue immortals.
’I said I’ll be back soon. They didn’t misinterpret that, right? Don’t they feel something is strange because I haven’t returned yet? Ah, everyone will know it eventually and shall look for me. I’m missing and master will surely look for me. Anyway, where is the exit? I got lost and kept going around in circles on this map!’ Vanessa exclaimed in her mind, feeling frustrated because she understood that she had gone far astray.
"You’ve nowhere to run!" A big man blocked the passage, aiming his greatsword to intercept the fleeing white cat.
He swung his greatsword, but it got stuck in the ceiling. The white cat was so fast and went through the gap between his legs.
"Shite! I said your greatsword is useless in the narrow passage! Throw the golden nets, now!"
"!!!" Vanessa widened her eyes in shock when she discovered that all of her escape routes had been sealed by the golden nets. She tried to tear it apart, but her claws stuck to the sticky golden net.
"Keke, you won’t go anywhere, cat!" The haggard rogue cultivator wiped his sweat, laughing breathlessly.
"Good job, mister. We caught it."
"But, how are we going to split the treasures now?"
"This cat must have a storage ring or something. We’ll search through her."
"No, wait. The golden nets belong to me. So I want at least 30%."
"Keke, I think this cat is good and can morph into a human beauty. I don’t want the Lingua Pearl and the Heron Fruit anymore. I want her. Nobody should compete with me."
"You did nothing yet you want to own her? I want her to be my pet. If you are not satisfied, cross my blade and talk again."
The rogue cultivators and other people began to surround the captured white cat. They began to discuss how they should split the treasures, but unfortunately, an agreement was never reached because each of them had their own interest and greed.
Vanessa was terrified, but she sensed her master entered this hateful forbidden zone. With the soul connection re-established, she immediately used her direct teleportation to return to her master’s side with a poof.
"Hey, where’s the cat?! Did it escape again?"
"No, I think I saw it vanish. Someone must have transported her into their storage ring. You are the nearest, admit it now!"
"I didn’t do it!"
"Be honest and return that white cat right now. The truth will be revealed if you remove all the contents from your storage ring."
"Show it, or we have no other choice but to kill you. Can you withstand the wrath from more than two dozen immortal cultivators at once, kid?"
The nearest man to the golden nets was accused by everyone, but he couldn’t reveal the contents of his storage ring to the others. Since everyone was so adamant, he had no other choice but to flee from the scene. He got chased by many people as a result.
At the same time, Vanessa had already teleported to the safest spot known as her beloved master’s arms. "Master, love~"
"You, little cat. What kind of trouble that you encountered?" Elysia breathed a sigh of relief and gently stroked her lovely cat, cleaning Vanessa’s pure white fluffy fur from dust and dirt.
"It’s a bunch of stupid humans and confusing terrain’s array. I got lost, but I managed to grab an interesting pearl and fruit, master." Vanessa took out a bright purple fruit from her necklace storage. She also spat out a luminous blue pearl out of her mouth.
"..." Elysia observed the strange-looking purple fruit and handed it over to Rhea. She then wiped Vanessa’s mouth with a handkerchief and dried the luminous blue pearl before giving it to Elena to examine.
"So, you were chased by many people and lost in the maze?" Elena smiled in amusement.
"Yeah, and they said it belonged to them when they were also here as treasure hunters. I got them, so the treasures belong to me, not them. They fought each other to the point of risking their lives, and these things are clearly valuable." Vanessa puffed her chest proudly.
"You don’t even know what kind of thing this is, and you still take the risk. You even went alone. Wait for your punishment later." Elysia pursed her lips, feigning her anger.
"Ah, ah... please forgive me, master. I just sensed a good thing was nearby, and I said to Lynn that I would be back soon. But, I unknowingly entered the forbidden zone and got lost. I offer these to you, master~" Vanessa looked up with a pitiful, cute cat eyes gaze.
"Hmm, let’s leave. I’ll still punish you, though. Going alone is banned, remember?" Elysia lightly spanked the white cat in her arms.
"Yes... I can only await her punishment, master." Venessa responded meekly.
